Hi there, I’m Janet Kaplan

I am a Master's level Certified Secondary Mathematics Teacher and also teach math on the college level. I have been tutoring adolescent and adult students in all subjects of High School and College Mathematics for more than twenty years, and have seen many students greatly improve their understanding, confidence, and grades in math as a result of my individual work with them.

 

Originally from New York, I live in Alpharetta with my husband, enjoying the almost year-round warmth.  I have two grown sons and two precious granddaughters, and I love to dance and enjoy making fabric art.

With a Master's degree in Health Services Administration, I started my career as an implementation manager for computer systems first being installed in New York City Hospitals. Continuing to serve as a systems analyst in various hospitals throughout the New York Tri-State area, I experienced first-hand the value of an analytical education grounded in mathematics.

Years later as my sons were growing, I sought to help young people prepare for the myriad of careers that require analytical thinking skills and received my certification in Secondary Mathematics. I taught high school mathematics for five years and soon discovered that I really enjoyed teaching adults. Fifteen years later, I have been teaching for Gwinnett Technical College and on-line with Strayer University.

Working one-on-one with students is most satisfying, as I have seen students flourish from the individual attention that only tutoring can provide.
